Bluefin Clinical is a venture-backed startup building robust, flexible, class-leading software for the clinical trial supply industry. Our software is responsible for ensuring life-saving drug products are produced & distributed to meet patient demand in clinical trials. Our existing customers love Bluefin for its design, security, and modern platform features. We are looking to grow responsibly and sustainably to keep up with demand for features and future products in our pipeline.
We’re looking to hire a founding software engineer who is passionate, skilled, and versatile. Our engineers are truly full-stack: infrastructure, databases, backend, frontend, even tackling UI/UX design problems. In a typical week you may be working on the client in React, expanding our API service built with tRPC, Express, and NodeJS, or diving into Pulumi to set up new infrastructure.
As a founding engineer you will help shape our company culture and participate in strategic decisions whose impact will be felt for years to come.
This position is fully remote with occasional travel, and reports to the CTO.
Responsibilities
- Designing new features that are high-quality, performant, and grounded in customer feedback. You will be responsible for the entire development, testing, and deployment lifecycle of that feature.
- Take customer feedback, extract the intent of feedback, and translate that intent into product features.

- You enjoy learning about and creating projects using new technologies, through work or personal projects.
- You are curious about new technologies, seeking out new ways to do things and staying up with the latest in the industry.
- You are able to quickly deliver high-quality, performant, and resilient code with minimal oversight.
- You are able to thrive in environments with ambiguous requirements, seeking out ways to resolve those ambiguities with a combination of team feedback and intuition.
- You are detail-oriented.
- Familiarity with cloud computing security, such as zero-trust and principles of least privilege.
- Experience with cloud computing, using Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, or similar products.
- Experience with CI/CD, using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar technologies
- Experience using TypeScript, React, and NodeJS
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code solutions like Pulumi, CloudFormation, Terraform, or similar technologies
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field
- Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills
- Two years of experience
